Snow Covered Dawn
It's scenes like this that get me in the mood for the Christmas season.
Winter day dawning near Châtel-Saint-Denis, Switzerland. Driving into work, I came over a hill and around the bend to this view. Street lights starting to twinkle off, roiling snow fog pulling back to uncover the town, the dawn light reflecting off the Church windows. If you had the gear, this is where you would stop, set up and frame the perfect shot. Or if you're like me, you just pull over, stick your Blackberry out the car window and snap the picture.
The day unraveled pretty quickly from there, but for a few minutes... Nice.

It does look like something off a card, doesn't it? Of course, half of Switzerland appears to be made just for postcards, so I guess it's typical. Still, this is a lovely shot.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo! Dawn is such a fantastic time of day. You can never go wrong photgraphing at this time of day. Thanks for sharing.:)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photo, I love the dawn and dusk shots, there's something about the lighting at those times of day.
ReplyDeleteLovely! The snow makes me long for home in Northern Maine...living in South Carolina, we don't get much of that here!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, this is the kind of photo Hallmark and post card companies across the world are seeking! This is a favorite for all the eyes of any and all beholders! Thanks, Jim!
ReplyDeleteQuite lovely! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks, all. I guess there's a reason or two it is one of my favorite shots. Paperback, I've traveled a little through Switzerland, and still haven't found the half that doesn't belong on a postcard - cities or countryside, it's a beautiful country.
ReplyDeleteTo really overthink it, the low resolution helps the shot - softens the detail and leaves something to the imagination.
Beautiful colours and so evocative.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very beautiful shot! I came here to check out the theme photos from Carmi's blog. Have a wonderful day/evening and a very Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeletebest time of the day, lovely.
ReplyDeleteit only takes one ...
Beautiful - quite a contrast to our Christmas day - blue skies and sunshine here in New Zealand
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful scene. It reminds me of Christmas too. Just perfect.
