Wind Art

In an art class a long time ago, I learned to draw trees by carefully and boldly drawing the tree trunk and branches, and then dabbing, smudging and swirling the leaves for "a natural look".  Who knew I could get the same effect with a slow shutter and tropical storm force winds.  Wind Art.

incandescent by jim.colleran

Cactus flowers are often big and showy compared to the non-descript plant body - making them fun to shoot during the short time they're in bloom.  Now, screw up the depth of field and focus, and the stigma (that starfish looking thing in the middle) and anther look like a glowing incandescent light bulb.  Just like I planned (?)

rain by jim.colleran

I opened my eyes
And looked up at the rain,
And it dripped in my head
And flowed into my brain,
And all that I hear as I lie in my bed
Is the slishity-slosh of the rain in my head.

I step very softly,
I walk very slow,
I can't do a handstand--
I might overflow,
So pardon the wild crazy thing I just said--
I'm just not the same since there's rain in my head.
